I am pleased to inform you that Hong Kong is going to host a mini-festival

of contemporary music in October 2008 called Musicarama 2008. Musicarama is

an annual showcase of new music performed by local and international

ensembles. This year's theme is 'Asian Modern Music' featuring new works by

composers of the Asia Pacific region, performed by the distinguished

Ensemble TIMP from Korea, Chinese folk instrumentalists, a hand bell

ensemble and 2 treble choirs from Hong Kong. We would like to announce the

following call for scores.

 

Call for Scores (open to all composers of ACL)

Event: Musicarama 2008 (A Showcase of Asia-Pacific Modern Music)

Date: October 2008

Venue: Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall

Organizer: Hong Kong Composers' Guild (ACL-Hong Kong Section, www.hkcg.org)

Score Selection Panel: Hong Kong Composers' Guild Council, Ensemble TIMF,

Hong Kong Hand Bell Academy

 

Instrumentation:

Category 1 - any pieces written in the last 10 years for at least 4

musicians within the following instrumentation: flute, clarinet, piano, 2

violins, viola, cello & double bass (Ensemble TIMF from Korea,

Category 2 - any pieces written in the last 10 years for 1 or 2 Chinese

instruments and at least 4 musicians within the instrumentation of Category

1

Category 3 - any pieces for hand bell ensemble (Hong Kong Hand Bell Academy,

www.hkhandbell.com/index_e.html, no more than 16 musicians)

Category 4 - not-too-difficult pieces for treble choir (a primary-school

choir). The lyrics shall be in English, Chinese, or both

Category 5 - not-too-difficult for treble choir and hand bell ensemble

 

Submission Deadlines

December 3, 2007 (for Categories 1 & 2)

January 7, 2007 (for Categories 3 to 5)

 

Destination

All scores shall be accompanied by information on the composers' contacts

(email, address, etc.), programme notes, short biography, optional recording

(if any), and shall be sent to :

Members who are attending the ISCM-ACL2007 festival next month are welcome

to bring along the scores from your National Sections to Hong Kong in

person. There is no limit of number of the scores one can submit.
